Frequently Asked Questions

The Qeswachaka Inca Bridge Tour typically includes round-trip transportation from Cusco and the services of a professional tour guide. The itinerary usually features scenic stops in the southern Cusco region and a visit to the famous Qeswachaka Inca Bridge, a traditional rope bridge made from woven ichu grass. Meals, entrance fees, and other personal expenses may vary depending on the tour package. We recommend checking the inclusions before confirming your reservation.

The Qeswachaka Inca Bridge Tour is generally considered easy to moderate because most of the journey is completed by vehicle, with short walks at the different stops. However, the bridge is located at a high altitude, and some paths may be uneven. Comfortable walking shoes, sun protection, and time to acclimatize to the altitude in Cusco are recommended. Visitors should follow local safety instructions when approaching or crossing the traditional suspension bridge.

The Qeswachaka Inca Bridge Tour usually takes a full day, approximately 10 to 12 hours, including transportation from Cusco and visits to the main attractions along the route. Travel time and the duration of each stop may vary depending on road conditions, weather, and the itinerary. During the excursion, you can admire the Andean landscapes, learn about local traditions, and discover the history of this remarkable Inca-era rope bridge.

We recommend bringing comfortable walking shoes, warm layered clothing, a waterproof jacket, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and a reusable water bottle. Weather conditions in the Andes can change quickly, so it is helpful to prepare for both sunshine and rain. Bring your camera or phone to photograph the bridge and surrounding landscapes, as well as some cash for meals, entrance fees, or personal expenses that may not be included in your tour package.

The Qeswachaka Inca Bridge is unique because it preserves an ancient Andean bridge-building tradition passed down through generations. Made from woven ichu grass, the suspension bridge is traditionally renewed each year by local Quechua communities using ancestral techniques and collective work. This living cultural practice reflects the importance of cooperation, heritage, and traditional engineering in the Andes. Visiting Qeswachaka offers an opportunity to learn about Peru's Inca heritage and the communities that continue to preserve it today.
