Frequently Asked Questions

The Palcoyo Mountain Tour typically includes round-trip transportation from Cusco, a professional tour guide, and time to explore the colorful landscapes of the Palcoyo Mountain range. Some packages also include breakfast and lunch. Entrance fees and other personal expenses may not be included, so we recommend checking the details of your tour package before booking.

The Palcoyo Mountain hike is generally considered easier than the hike to Rainbow Mountain, as the walking route is relatively short and less steep. However, the trail is located at a high altitude, which can make walking more challenging. A basic level of fitness, comfortable hiking shoes, and time to acclimatize to the altitude in Cusco are recommended. Walking at a steady pace and taking breaks will help you enjoy the scenery comfortably.

The Palcoyo Mountain Tour usually takes a full day, approximately 10 to 12 hours, including transportation from Cusco, the hike, and time to enjoy the viewpoints. The journey by road takes several hours each way, depending on traffic and road conditions. Once you arrive, you can explore the colorful mountains, admire the surrounding Andes, and take photographs of the impressive natural scenery before returning to Cusco.

We recommend bringing comfortable hiking shoes, warm layered clothing, a waterproof jacket, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and a reusable water bottle. The weather in the Andes can change quickly, and temperatures may be cold, especially in the morning. Bring some snacks, cash for personal expenses, and a camera or phone to capture the colorful mountain landscapes. It is also advisable to carry any personal medication you may need during the trip.

The best time to visit Palcoyo Mountain is generally during the dry season, from May to September, when the weather is often clearer and the mountain views are more visible. The rainy season, usually from November to March, can bring cloudy skies, rain, and muddy trail conditions. However, weather in the Andes is unpredictable throughout the year. We recommend checking the forecast before your trip and dressing in layers to stay comfortable during the hike.
